We are a passionate group of individuals who come from every corner of the globe, each delivering a unique skill set.
An award-winning journalist and youth media advocate, Beatrice was a 2014-15 Knight Fellow in journalism at Stanford University, where she developed and launched GSS in an effort to bring more youth voice into the news ecosystem.
A senior at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, Bethany served as news editor for Europe and Africa. She loves food, her pug Sammie and lots of sleep.
Simon Greenhill is a founding editor of GSS and served as news editor for the Middle East and Asia. A junior at the University of California, Berkeley, Simon is currently studying abroad in Jordan.
Kellen Browning is a freshman at Pomona College. He was the JEA’s 2016 Journalist of the Year and editor-in-chief of his high school publication. Kellen competes on cross-country and track teams for the Pomona Sagehens.
Casey Miller is a sophomore majoring in journalism at the University of Oregon. A founding co-editor-in-chief of GSS, she is a reporter for the Daily Emerald at U of O. In her free time, she enjoys traveling as much as possible.
Jonah Zigman is a junior at Wilson High School in Portland, Oregon. During a semester at the American School of Paris, he covered the Paris terror attacks for GSS. In his free time, Jonah enjoys ice hockey, hiking and snowboarding.
Meghan Bobrowsky is a senior at Davis Senior High School. Editor-in-chief of the Blue Devil Hub, she produced the #MyGlobalStory and “45for45” video series for GSS. Meghan loves poke bowls and running cross-country for the Blue Devils.
Mara Pleasure is a sophomore at the University of Southern California, majoring in media arts. She was the editor-in-chief of design and layout for the Urban Legend, her high school publication. Mara created the GSS logo.
Xavier Boluna is a senior in the International Baccalaureate program at Sequoia High School in Redwood City, California. He is editor-in-chief of the Raven Report. His interests include business management and computer science.
J.J. Hennessy is a freshman at York Community High School in Elmhurst, Illinois. His projects include teaching code to teens in underserved areas. JJ loves exploring tech trends and is moderately obsessed with “Westworld.”
Animesh Agrawal is a senior at the American School of Paris. He is the webmaster for the school journal, lead programmer for robotics club, lead saxophonist in jazz band, and is interested in Algorithms and Sciences.

Hannah Shraim covers Muslim teen issues for GSS. A driving force behind the GSS #IStandWithMuslims campaign, Hannah attends Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. Her videos appear on GSS and on YouTube at Libre Looks.

A freshman at Stanford University, Alex Hennessy was co-editor of the GSS #IStandWithMuslims campaign. She is currently double majoring in environmental science and economics.

Veronica Vargo served on the founding team for GSS, handling social media. She is a sophomore majoring in biological science in the honors program at the University of California, Davis.

A freshman at Stanford University, Celine has covered Islamophobia, terrorism, immigration and food insecurity for GSS. She was editor-in-chief of her high school publication at A.A. Stagg High School in Stockton, California.
Lauren Fritschi is a sophomore at California State University, Northridge where she is majoring in graphic design. For GSS Lauren has produced editorial cartoons and a series of “political trading cards” for first-time millennial voters.
Lauren is a senior at Antioch Community High School in Antioch, Illinois. Currently she is the senior editor for her school publication, The Tom Tom. She is deeply interested in political science and public relations and plans on pursuing these passions in college.
Hannah is a junior at Shalhevet High School in Los Angeles and is currently the community editor of the Shalhevet Boiling Point. Hannah is also a member of mjnewground’s Muslim and Jews Inspiring Change high school leadership fellowship.
Izzie Ramirez is a student journalist living in Washington, D.C. She is an entertainment and politics reporter at NYU Local — a New York University news blog — as well as a travel writer and photographer for the NYU Baedeker. You can see more of her work at izzieramirez.com.
Vignesh Sreedhar is a sophomore at the American School of Paris. He is the secretary of the India Club, a member of the Model United Nations Club, a part of the Math Team, a Varsity Tennis player, and the 10th grade Student Council representative in his school. He is very interested in Mathematics and Sciences.
