Global Student Square is a youth-led initiative to globalize and democratize journalism. By connecting student journalists all over the world, GSS is working to bring youth voices into global news. Using emerging platforms for online collaboration and digital storytelling tools, GSS editors and contributors produce high-quality journalism in a virtual newsroom where young journalists can connect, collaborate and create stories on common themes but offering uncommon perspectives.

Our goal is to make youth voice part of the news ecosystem and to bring millennial insight to mainstream media.

Why the Square?

Young people all over the world are telling stories — thousands of them, every day. And the digital tools they use are more powerful than ever before. There’s just one problem — they’re not connected.

Click on the video below to learn more about public squares around the world where young people stand up and speak out in ways that move their societies toward change — and how a Global Student Square could make those voices heard.
